Intel recently announced SuiteTwo - a collection of Web 2.0 technology/applications. It includes blogs, Wiki, RSS/News.
Of course from our vantage point it is missing a key application - that of enterprise social bookmarking.
Kim Polese talks about the role of SpikeSource as providing the integration, maintenance, and support for this suite to come together and work at customer sites. However, I would imagine for a customer irrespective of what SpikeSource can offer, the SLA would be predicated on the weakest link in this chain.
And while the idea behind a Suite 2.0 is noble, I do think, particularly at this stage, it might be a lot for customers to swallow. I hope the customers prove me wrong.
A 'Suite 1.2' would have been a better option. Suite 1.2 would come in the form of taking an established (Web 1.0) enterprise software vendor and a Web 2.0 vendor jointly bringing their products to market.
For example, an enterprise search vendor combined with social bookmarking. A document management or collaboration vendor combined with either a blog or a wiki product vendor. I believe such a mix would be easier for the customers to adopt and digest. Rather than at one fell swoop trying to bring everything Web 2.0 into the enterprise.
